The long awaited Twitter likely to roll out an official advertising platform by March 2010.

Anamitra Banerji, the head of product management and monetization at Twitter,Said "We are working on an ad platform, but it’s only in the test phase. There is no exact date as off now for Twitter add platform but as per the sources it will be expected next month.

600 Tweets every second place Twitter pretty close to the Facebook’s popularity meaning that the advertising revenue could be very high if Twitter strikes with just the right strategy. Also it will be interesting to see how the third-parties like Ad.ly and Izea that insert ads in the twitter streams will be affected by Twitter’s own advertising model.
