New Look's to BING Shopping

Microsoft has just updated Bing Shopping,  putting in some enhancements to product categories and navigation. Specifically, Bing Shopping now has a list of product categories on the left side of the homepage. This will enable you to drill down to specific items under the specific product categories. It will also help get started searching for products you want to buy. It’s like giving you a window shopping experience, only this time its done online.

In addition to the product category lists, Bing Shopping also now gives you a summary of all the information you need pertaining to a particular product. These information include – where to buy, user reviews, cashback percentage, and product specs.

Search Engine battle Global Warming

An Ecosia search engine was launched on Monday 7th Dec. Christian Kroll and his Berlin-based company developed the search tool. The tool is counting on the world's fascination with the Internet to help save Brazilian rainforests and battle global warming. It is able to save up to 2 square meters of rain forest every time you start searching something.

A brain child of "green-minded friends" in Berlin, ecosia.org is powered by Bing and Yahoo! search technology but gives at least 80 percent of its revenue to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to protect rainforests. Servers for the Ecosia search engine are able to work on green electricity. A user has to install it only once but engine notifies you how much of the rainforest your web searching stores.

Ecosia added that each search on Google generates as much CO2 as a light bulb creates in one hour.

A World Wide Fund spokesman underlined that a lot of things can be done in case a user switches his search engine to a greener one. He also said that a user is able to defend about 2,000 square meters of rainforest every year if he uses Ecosia. In case 1% of Internet users all over the world utilizes Ecosia for their Web searches it will be possible to keep rain forest area as big as Switzerland each year.
