Call-To-Action Overlay

On July 1, 2009, YouTube launched their “Call-To-Action Overlay”. YouTube is now allowing advertisers to incorporate a "Call-to-Action overlay" on their videos. The overlay is a semi-transparent pop-up that links viewers to any website you choose. With the overlay, you can drive traffic to your sites where viewers can make purchases, sign up for email newsletters or whichever action you are looking to create. Prior to this launch, you had to add a link in the summary section of the text you wrote.

Currently, this service is only available for Promoted Videos which are the paid searches of You Tube. These are a cost per click format. You will have to do some testing to see if this avenue is cost effective for you, but video marketing can drive a lot of traffic to your site, especially when all they have to do is click on the overlay in your video.

In order to set up the overlay:

1. Set up your Promoted Video campaign like you normally would in YouTube

2. Under My Videos, go to the Video Details page

3. Fill out the fields for the Call-to-Action overlay section
