Intel Digg Indian Market

Intel in process of Digging leading telecom companies of India like Bharti Airtel, Tata Communication and Reliance Communication to bid broadband wireless access spectrum that will be in the auction in January 2010.

Intel’s offer of WiMAX technology and the chance of getting a minority interest in return for venture capital.

In India Intel looking to have a partnership with local telco giants to bid for spectrum to provide WiMAX Service.

At the present time in India there are only about 6.5 million broadband users which is lower than the expected 20 million by 2010. Now 80 per cent of the service is provided through digital subscriber line technology, 8 per cent through cable and just 1 per cent through wireless.

About 28 companies including such leaders as Intel Technology India, Alacatel-Lucent India, Motorola India, Moser Baer Industrial Infrastructure, Huawei, HCL Infosystems, Larsen & Toubro Infotech and TCIL were observed to acquire the tender documents.
